A rapist snared after his young victim told nursery staff she had been abused has been jailed for eight years.
Paul Moffat was locked up as a judge told him “no child should have to undergo” the ordeal she went through.
Moffat preyed on the youngster when she was aged just four and five.
The girl later went on to brand her attacker “a rat” – and that what he done was “really bad”.
Moffat was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow having earlier been convicted of rape and sexually abusing the girl.
The crimes occurred between January 2014 and April 2015 at an address in Moray.
Lord Matthews told Moffat the victim had been “an innocent wee girl”.
The judge went on: “No child should have to undergo not only the abuse, but also the confusing emotions that sort of conduct engenders.”
Moffat, also of Moray, will be supervised for two years on his release.
A jury heard how the child told nursery staff what had gone on.
Prosecutor Sheena Fraser said: “The police were called in and the girl revealed more information to her mother about what Moffat had done.”
The youngster did not give evidence in court.
The court was instead shown footage of her interview with police and social workers.
Moffat – who denied the claims – will also be on the sex offenders list indefinitely.
