A former supermarket employee in Fort William who embezzled £1,500 has been given six months to repay the cash.
Jamie Bonnett, 25, who worked at Morrisons’ store at An Aird in the town took the money between May 11 and July 23, 2015.
Fort William Sheriff Court heard yesterday that Bonnett, who pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing, is no longer employed at the supermarket and is living in Glasgow with his current partner.
His solicitor, Hamish Melrose, said: “His parents were going to give him £700 towards the cost, but could only manage to raise £500. Because of what happened he has found it difficult to gain employment, but has now found a job as a sales assistant.”
Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald deferred sentence on Bonnett for six months until November 7, to enable him to pay back the money.
