A man from Scalloway who assaulted two other pub-goers and behaved aggressively towards a bouncer on a night out in Lerwick has been fined £400.
Michael Henderson, of Port Arthur, appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court to admit the offences, which took place at Da Wheel Bar on the town’s Commercial Road on February 26.
The assault charge involved attempting to kick the two men on the body.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said the 32-year-old was “drunk and making a nuisance of himself” in the bar and was warned numerous times about his behaviour.
Henderson was escorted out of the premises but “effectively started a fight” with the door steward.
Two “public spirited” men sought to help the bouncer and managed to remove Henderson, but soon after he came back and tried to kick them both on the body.
He was restrained and a passing police officer apprehended him.
Defence agent Tommy Allan said the offshore worker “just had too much to drink” and “saw red” after being ejected.
He said his client went back to apologise to the staff member two weeks later and added there was no ill-feeling between Henderson and the other two men.
Sheriff Philip Mann warned Henderson he had to act “sensibly and responsibly” while drinking.
