Trio appear at court over major drugs hauls in north-east towns

A 16-year-old has pleaded not guilty to supplying heroin after police in Peterhead and Fraserburgh seized £80,000 of drugs.

Detectives in Fraserburgh raided properties in Birnie Place and St Andrews Drive on Tuesday while officers in Peterhead recovered drugs from Errol Street.

Quantities of both heroin and cocaine were seized.

The teenage boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – has been charged alongside 27-year-old Amanda Ross from Fraserburgh in connection with the supply of heroin and appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday.

The pair pleaded not guilty and were released on bail.

A 28-year-old man appeared at the court separately and in private facing two charges of supplying drugs and a third of drug possession. Sameer Junaja made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.

Last night detective inspector Stewart Drummond said: “The recovery of this substantial amount of drugs demonstrates the commitment we have towards targeting those involved in the supply of controlled drugs in the north-east.”

DI Drummond said specialist officers from CID and roads policing were used in the operation and that it was “not a one off”.

He added: “As well as targeting particular individuals we will also act upon reports from the public so we need you to call us and provide that information.”

Anyone with concerns about drug misuse can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you want to remain anonymous.
