A 22-year-old labourer who threw a punch in defence of his younger brother was fined £250 at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Connor West, of Anne Crescent, Nairn was in the Star Hotel with his sibling Sean when words were exchanged with another man.
The court was told that West punched his victim once, causing swelling and bruising to his face.
A 40-year-old man who was banned from contacting a witness in his case was told by a Sheriff: “Conditions of bail are not optional extras.”
Iain MacRae of Edington Road, Inverness, appeared from custody at the city’s Sheriff Court and admitted a breach of bail by repeatedly getting in touch with the woman. He was fined £200 by Sheriff Margaret Neilson.
A 35-year-old airport tarmac foreman was fined £400 after admitting behaving in a threatening or abusive manner after being refused alcohol in an Inverness bar.
Alistair Mackenzie of Cameron Square, Inverness, admitted the offence which occurred on May 8 after he had gone into MacCallum’s Bar.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told “he didn’t respond well to being refused and became aggressive towards a female member of staff.”
