Police who searched a suspected drug dealer’s home got their man a few days later after spotting him nervously looking over his shoulder.
Yesterday, 29-year-old Liam Munro appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine with a maximum value of almost £6,000.
Fiscal depute Roderick Urquhart told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald that Munro’s house in MacGilvray Court, Culloden, was raided on Thursday September 8, last year following information received.
But the search the police only revealed a mobile phone and a bank card bearing traces of white powder.
However three days later on September 11, two police constables were on patrol when they saw Munro walking alone near the Smithton shops.
They noticed that he was constantly looking over his shoulder and being aware of recent information to the effect that he was involved in the use and supply of controlled drugs, the constables decided to stop and speak to him.
Mr Urquhart said: “He appeared very nervous, was pale, sweating and was evasive when asked what he was doing or where he had been.”
The court heard Munro was informed he was being detained for a drugs search and he ran off into a nearby alleyway where he attempted to throw away a small black pouch.
The bag was retrieved by the police who shortly thereafter caught and handcuffed Munro.
Examination and analysis established that the discarded bag contained a plastic film package containing 7.39 grammes of cocaine and two plastic bags containing 50.75 and 3.46 grammes of the narcotic.
Munro will be sentenced on August 10 after a background report has been prepared.
