A man who bit, kicked, punched and slapped his partner and hit a 12-year-old boy he was passing in the street was jailed for nine months yesterday.
Jakub Faron, 20, of George Street in Oban, appeared at the town’s sheriff court for sentencing.
Natalia Groblicka was left with two black eyes, extensive bruising on her arms, reddening to her left eyeball and bite wounds following the attack.
The couple, who have since separated, were drinking in the room they rented when then incident took place, the court heard.
Fiscal Eoin McGinty said: “He began to shout at the complainer. The first physical contact was when he slapped her face, accusing her of cheating on him.
“The accused continued to shout and swear. The complainer asked him to leave. This seemed to anger him even more, at which point he slapped her across the face several times. Then he began to punch, kick and bite her on the body.
“She was now screaming and crying. She ran from the house into the street and into a local hotel for help. The person in the hotel could see she was distressed and had blood on her face.”
The victim was taken to hospital where medics saw multiple cuts, grazes and a bite mark. She also had a cut lip, which doctors were of the opinion would leave a scar. She was given antibiotics for the bite.
In the previous incident on August 27 last year a 12-year-old boy and his friend were in Soroba Road, Oban, when they came across Faron.
Mr McGinty said: “For no reason whatsoever he walked to their side of the road and slapped the complainer on the back. He and his friend sped off on their scooters.”
Next Faron stood in front of a car, causing it to stop. He then put his hands down his trousers. As the motorist drove around him, he slapped the car.
When police traced him to his flat he went onto the roof and wouldn’t come down. When he eventually did, he struggled with officers.
Faron pleaded guilty to an assault, assault to injury and behaving in a threatening manner.
Solicitor Gordon Seaton said he came to the UK from Poland in 2015 and was first in Inverness, before he moved to Oban to work on a fish farm.
Mr Seaton said Faron was young for his age, unable to handle alcohol and he accepted that his behaviour was unacceptable.
