Speeding driver from Buckie keeps licence – and Army career
ByReporter
A 20-year-old Buckie man with ambitions to pursue an Army career kept his dream on track by retaining his licence yesterday.
Nathan Watters, of Blairdaff Street, admitted speeding on the A96 at 101 mph at Kerrowaird on December 1 last year.
His lawyer, John MacColl, explained that Watters was on a short term contract with the Army which involved working with and transporting cadets to bases.
He asked Sheriff Margaret Neilson not to disqualify his client from driving because his military ambition would be ended if he lost his licence.
Watters was fined £300 and had his licence endorsed with five penalty points.
