Highland man admits downloading thousands of indecent images and videos

A 55-year-old married man downloaded thousands of indecent pictures and videos of children as young as five over a six-year period.
Yesterday, at Inverness Sheriff Court, Neil Williams of Inverlair, Roy Bridge, who the court heard has no children of his own, admitted possessing and downloading 18,377 images and 509 videos containing the obscene material between January, 2010 and August last year.
He also admitted having 808 images and 21 obscene videos of adults and animals.
Deferring sentence for a background report, Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood warned Williams: “Given the nature and number of images, all options are open to the court.”
He will re-appear on August 22 for sentence when defence solicitor Hamish Melrose will speak on his behalf.
Williams was immediately placed on the Sex Offender’s Register.
