A motorist has been fined £400 and disqualified from driving for six months after causing a fireball crash on the A9 which injured three children at the weekend.
Chef Raanan Levy Yariv, aged 53, from Israel, appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted careless driving on August 27 at the Ralia junction, near Newtonmore, colliding his hired car with a Vauxhall Safira.
One of the vehicles caught fire, police said at the weekend.
The A9 was closed for a time and diversions were put in place. One child was airlifted from the scene, another transported by road and the third assessed at the scene.
Mr Yariv’s wife, Orna was also injured.
The children were discharged from hospital the following day, the court heard. The driver of the other car sustained a broken rib and bruising.
