Two Inverness men who were responsible for stealing from cars in the city during one December day in 2015 were each ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid community work.
Ryan Jackson, 30, of the High Street, and 21-year-old Brian Emslie, of Evan Barron Road, appeared for sentence trial at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after earlier pleading guilty to a total of eight charges of theft.
Jackson admitted breaking into one car, whilst Emslie admitted breaking into seven.
All were committed on December 30, 2015, in Cauldeen Road, Castle Heather Road, Morvich Way, Dell Road and Oldtown Road.
Fiscal depute Ross Carvel told the court that items stolen included clothing, a rucksack, a laptop plus cash and bank cards.
The court was told both men were under the influence of drugs at the time. Emslie was also placed under one year’s social work supervision.
