Man, 27, caught drink-driving three times in matter of months

A 27-year-old man from County Durham was sent to prison for seven months after having been caught drink driving three times in a matter of months.
In August, Harley Goundry pled guilty at Lerwick Sheriff Court to driving a car on the B9074 in Scalloway on April 23 while four and half times the legal limit.
The court heard that Goundry, of Bishop Auckland, had accumulated three drink driving offences within months.
Pleading for leniency at court yesterday, defence solicitor Tommy Allan said his client’s issues were more with alcohol use than that of criminal behaviour.
However, jailing Goundry, sheriff Philip Mann said that two previous convictions for drink driving made a custodial sentence inevitable.
Goundry was also disqualified from driving for 10 years.
