Further investigations are being made following accusations a former Moray councillor possessed and distributed indecent photographs of children.
Sean Morton, of Mayfield Street in Stirling, represented the Fochabers and Lhanbryde ward until he was ousted at this year’s elections.
Yesterday, the 36-year-old maintained his innocence when he appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court.
Morton’s defence solicitor Laura Greer confirmed background reports on behalf of her client from a computer expert have now been prepared.
However, fiscal Alex Swain asked for time so the information can be considered by Crown Office experts.
Morton denies possessing extreme pornography between November 2013 and June last year.
The Stirling resident is also accused of “taking or permitting” indecent or pseudo-photographs of children to be taken on November 11, 2013, possessing similar images on the same day and “distributing or showing” the same type of images on June 6 last year.
The former councillor is also accused of participating in social media discussions about child abuse on either June 6 or 7 last year in the presence of another man, as well as “shouting aggressively” at him, which allegedly caused him “fear or alarm”.
Morton will appear in court again on November 14.
