A driver who admitted knocking down a four-year-old boy and fleeing the scene has had his sentence further deferred.
John Macdonald left the boy with serious injuries following the incident in July.
Macdonald appeared for sentencing at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday but his lawyer, Aileen McInnes, said her client had not received a letter sent to him by the social work department about a meeting he should have attended.
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood told Macdonald: “Given the nature of these charges I have considered very carefully whether you should remain in custody. Last time the case called I was just persuaded. Sorry, but you are now remanded in custody.”
Macdonald will appear for sentencing on December 7.
