A businessman grabbed his wife by the throat after an argument in their home two days after the birth of their child.
Mobile phone repair shop owner Moaj Kandhro was holding his baby when he attacked wife Kirstie on December 5, 2013.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that she was left with bruising after the 34-year-old, who lives on Leyton Drive in Inverness, assaulted her.
He admitted a charge of assault yesterday.
Fiscal depute David Morton said Mrs Kandhro initially didn’t inform the police until four years later, when other allegations were made.
But not guilty pleas to four other charges were accepted by Mr Morton.
Defence solicitor Willie Young said his client was Mrs Kandhro’s third husband and legal advice was now being taken to end the marriage.
He went on: “The couple were very tired and did not get much sleep. There was an argument and she said some unpleasant things to him before pushing him.
“He reacted but afterwards they hugged and made up. The couple are now separated and he has no wish to reconcile.”
Sentence was deferred until March 23 next year for good behaviour.
