A father-of-three assaulted his partner in a row over a Christmas present.
Madars Karlisons, 31, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court before Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood yesterday.
The factory worker admitted assaulting his partner of the past 18 months, Santa Loke, in their home in Birnie Terrace, Inverness, on January 7 by striking her on the head with his hand.
Fiscal depute Roderick Urquhart told the court the offence happened on Sunday when Ms Loke asked Karlisons about a mobile phone she had bought him for Christmas.
“He then slapped her on the face.”Mr Urquhart added.
Defence solicitor Neil Wilson said: “This is entirely out of character. He has one previous conviction which is not analogous. It was a foolish argument, he has admitted the offence and is sorry.”
Mr Wilson added that he would not go into the details of the argument in open court. It is believed the couple are still together.
Sheriff Fleetwood deferred sentence to July 12.
