Highland driver caught over the alcohol limit returning from music festival

An Invergordon joiner who was stopped by police on his return from a music festival in Ullapool was disqualified from driving for a year yesterday.
Louis Macdonald, of Northfield, by Tomich, admitted driving with excess alcohol on the A85 near the Wester Ross fishing village on October 1 last year.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told he was just over the legal limit. But it took police almost three hours to breathalyse the 22 year old because the machine at Ullapool was not working properly.
Fiscal depute David Morton said Macdonald had been stopped at midnight but it was 2.45am before the reading was recorded in Inverness.
Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said his client had intended staying the night, but weather conditions forced a change of mind.
Macdonald was also fined £600.
