A drunk thug claimed he was an “FBI agent” and repeatedly tried to attack a family while accusing them of being “rapists and murderers”.
Daniel Whyte admitted targeting the Mackies while they were enjoying a meal in the Gordon Arms, Huntly, on January 4.
He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
Fiscal depute Stuart Wright told the court Whyte, of the town’s Gordon Street, had come into the pub after the Mackies, who were not known to him.
Bar staff noticed the 25-year-old appeared drunk before he walked over to the Mackies said “I know who you are but you don’t know who I am”.
Whyte then finished his drink and left the pub for about 45 minutes before returning in an even more intoxicated state, the court heard.
He then began shouting at the Mackies that they were “rapists”, “murderers” and “paedos”.
Whyte then picked up a pool cue and charged at George Mackie threatening to hit him with it.
A barmaid got in between the pair and Whyte stopped before he was escorted outside by an off-duty manager who happened to be walking by and saw the commotion.
The court then heard that Whyte managed to re-enter the pub and began shouting that the family had a chainsaw and claimed they were going to murder him.
He also claimed he was an FBI agent and the Mackies had been under surveillance for three years.
The owner intervened and tried to escort Whyte out but he picked up a bar stool and threw it at Mr Mackie, narrowly missing him.
The police were then called and, after shouting and swearing at the officers, Whyte tried to punch Constable Craig Kinniburgh in the face before being arrested.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin deferred sentence until next month for reports.
