Stephen Whyte was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for drug offences when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court today.
The 47-year-old from Inverness was found guilty to possession of heroin with intent to supply after trial on Tuesday, January 9.
Whyte was arrested after a car was stopped on the A9 near Daviot heading north towards Inverness on August 17, 2017 and a quantity of heroin valued at approximately £3,000 recovered.
This operation involved staff from the Community Investigation Unit and the Road Policing Unit.
Detective Inspector Peter Mackenzie said: “We are dedicated to disrupting the activity of people like Whyte who bring illegal drugs into our communities with the aim of selling them on and bringing misery to people’s lives.
“Our message to drug dealers is that we will continue to pro-actively target those who supply highly addictive illegal drugs, whether they are on the roads as in this case or on our streets.”
Mackenzie added: “Our communities have made it very clear that they will not tolerate the trade in illegal drugs and Police Scotland relies on intelligence from the public to help tackle the drug trade.
Anyone with information or concerns relating to the use or supply of illegal drugs can contact police on 101 or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
