A sheriff has warned “a monumental pest” in the community she faces a prison term if she does not complete an unpaid community work order.
Carol Cowie, 49, of Bayview Terrace, Thurso, admitted breaching a previous order when she appeared at Wick Sheriff Court yesterday.
It was imposed after she admitted disorderly conduct and assaulting police officers on December 19, 2016, in Thurso.
The court heard that police have had more than 28 calls relating to Cowie in recent weeks.
Sheriff Andrew Berry discharged the order yesterday and imposed a fresh one for the same period of 100 hours.
He told Cowie: “There is only so much the general public, the police, social work and others can take in respect of your behaviour.
“It is quite clear that Police Scotland regard you as a monumental pest.
“In recent weeks they have had more than 28 call-outs in relation to you. Dealing with you means they are not able to deal with other things.”
Sheriff Berry warned her that if she didn’t co-operate with social workers and others trying to help her she would face a prison sentence.
The order, which will remain in place for 18 months, will include an alcohol treatment requirement. There will be a progress review in four weeks time.
