A convicted sex offender will learn his fate next month after he was caught with indecent videos of children on his phone.
Darren Adie, whose address was given as Sandilands Drive in Aberdeen, appeared at the city’s sheriff court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to downloading the footage between July 7 and November 21, 2016.
Fiscal depute Alan Townsend told the court that police had raided the 39-year-old’s home, which he shared with his partner in November 2016.
Officers had been alerted to Adie’s use of child pornography websites and seized two mobile phones and a laptop.
Mr Townsend said cyber crime officers had examined the three devices and found a number of videos on one of the phones.
The files had been deleted and could not be played, but the fiscal said a number of the videos had titles which suggested they featured explicit footage of children as young as seven-years-old.
Mr Townsend read out the names of the files, which featured words terms such as “paedo”, “14-year-old boy” and “pre-teen girls”.
Defence agent Gregor Kelly said the offence was clearly “troubling”, particularly given Adie had previously served a six month jail sentence for similar offences in Carlisle.
He added that Adie was aware it was likely he was facing a prison sentence.
Sheriff William Summers placed Adie on the sex offender’s register and deferred sentence for reports.
