A Nairn man who twice defied a court order banning him from contacting his partner was jailed for a total of 291 days yesterday.
Scott MacKay had previously been convicted after trial in December at Inverness Sheriff Court of assaulting Gemma Robertson.
He was awaiting sentence on that charge as well as two bail breaches and an attempting to pervert the course of justice offence.
The 29-year old of Moss-side Brae, admitted all the offences and Sheriff Chris Dickson told him that with his record, only a custodial sentence was appropriate.
It was backdated to March 29.
Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson said that his client and his partner both had “significant addiction difficulties.”
