A Nairn youth who caused a disturbance in a local taxi office was ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work yesterday.
Dylan West, 18, of Anne Crescent, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court last month and admitted shouting, swearing, uttering offensive remarks and repeatedly kicking a window at the office of 24/7 Taxis in High Street on September 30 last year.
Sentence was deferred for a background report when Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood heard that West was already on a community payback order.
He told West: “You seem to be making a habit of this. We’ll need to see if a community-based disposal is appropriate for this type of behaviour.”
After reading the report, Sheriff Fleetwood decided against sending West to a young offenders institution.
Defence solicitor Patrick O’Dea said: “He lacks the life experience to know that if he drinks to excess, these things happen.”
