A 62-year-old Inverness woman who recklessly set her home on fire was admitted to hospital hours before she was due to be sentenced.
Christina Dewar’s solicitor Duncan Henderson told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood yesterday that his client had been taken to A&E at the city’s Raigmore Hospital by ambulance and would not be appearing.
No reason was given by the lawyer for the admission.
Last month, Inverness Sheriff Court was told that it was in the same medical unit that Dewar had confessed to igniting the blaze in Mackay Road.
She explained she wanted to kill herself and her husband because she hated him.
Her trial heard that the Dewars had to be rescued by neighbours.
She was convicted by a jury and sentence had been deferred for a background report. Dewar was re-scheduled to appear on June 5.
