Staff at a Nairn hotel were suspicious of a man who came into their premises wearing sunglasses at midnight.
So when Thiago De Lima left and got into a car outside, they phoned police on August 7 last year suspecting him of being under the influence of something.
Officers intercepted 32-year-old De Lima of Loganlea Place, Edinburgh, but he refused to provide either roadside or breath specimens at Burnett Road Police Station in Inverness.
His car was later searched and they found over 130 grams of cannabis, with a street value of £1100 and £1170 in cash.
Yesterday at Inverness Sheriff Court, De Lima, who had earlier admitted two charges of refusing to give breath specimens, being concerned in the supply of drugs and a failure to appear, was jailed for six months.
He was also banned from driving for two years.
