A 28-year-old joiner who broke a man’s jaw after a road rage incident was ordered to pay his victim £1,000 in compensation.
Liam Miller appeared for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after earlier admitting assaulting Matthew Mowat to his severe injury near the city’s Drumossie Hotel on August 15.
A background report had been prepared and defence solicitor Rory Gowans said: “It appears he has a temper. Every previous conviction is of a similar nature and it is a concern.
“This was an incident arising out of a road rage type encounter where two individuals leave their vehicles and confront each other.”
Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald also ordered Miller of Drumdevan Road, Inverness, to be under a year’s social work supervision and attend any programmes deemed appropriate.
She added: “If you carry on losing your temper in this way, you will end up in jail.
“You caused a significant injury in a very aggressive fashion.”
