A fisherman who behaved in a racially aggravated manner towards police was ordered to carry out 54 hours of unpaid work yesterday.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 26-year-old Neil Corrigall, of Culduthel Mains Court, Inverness, had been arrested after police were called to a disturbance in Hilton Court on May 25.
But as Corrigall sat in a police car waiting to go into Burnett Road Police Station, he got aggressive.
Fiscal depute Laura Ryan said Corrigall also became abusive towards one officer and targeted him with abuse about him being Engish.
Miss Ryan added: “He threatened to spit on an officer and said that he would ‘get’ him when he was off duty.”
Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said his client was not working due to illness and was “binge-drinking.”
Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald said: “It was an unpleasant offence.”
