A man from Aberdeen was released on bail yesterday after appearing at Lerwick Sheriff from custody accused of assaulting his partner.
Martin Dowling, of Cloverleaf Grange, Bucksburn, had his case continued without plea until August 1.
The 53-year-old was accused of assaulting his partner at the Lerwick Hotel on Sunday by repeatedly punching and kicking her on the head and striking her on the head with a telephone, all to her injury.
Dowling was also charged with behaving aggressively and shouting at the same location on the same day.
The court heard that the couple were in Shetland on holiday.
