A man has been fined after threatening to attack a GP in a north-east medical centre.
Matthew Anderson appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted shouting and swearing at Dr Nitin Maheshwari at Crimond Medical Centre on April 19.
He pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm.
The court was told Anderson was waiting to be called by a doctor and became agitated.
Fiscal depute Ruaridh McAlister said Anderson, whose address was given in court papers at The Corse, Crimond, demanded to be examined.
He said: “Whilst he was in the waiting room he caused a scene and repeatedly demanded to be seen.
“When he was with the doctor he repeatedly shouted and the practice manager was called to assist. This didn’t have any effect.
“He uttered a threat that he was going to assault the doctor.
“He was later charged and said ‘I’m stupid, I’m sorry’.”
Defence agent Iain Jane said Anderson went to Crimond Medical after leaving hospital.
He said his client was still a patient and stated that there had not been any more issues.
Mr Jane said: “He went back to apologise and he does accept he was out of order.
“There’s not been any repeat and he is still a patient at the centre.
“He had been assaulted a few days before this and suffered a fractured skull.
“He later signed himself out of hospital and went to the medical centre. He accepts he lost his temper.”
Sheriff Robert McDonald fined Anderson £240.
