A keen fisherman forgot he had a knife-like tool in his wallet when he went to an Inverness nightclub.
But it cost 41-year-old Gordon Bell of Mansfield Estate, Tain, a £600 fine at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after he admitted having it in a public place without lawful authority.
The court heard that police were called to The Den on November 5 after a disturbance was reported.
Bell was arrested and when searched, officers found a credit-card style piece of plastic with a knife folded inside.
Defence solicitor Clare Russell said her client was a member of Kildary Fishing Club and had bought the knife on the internet to use while camping and fishing.
She said he had forgotten it was there and should have removed it before going to the nightclub.
