Raigmore Hospital nurse drove while almost three times legal alcohol limit

A Raigmore Hospital auxiliary nurse who was concerned about her mother drove when she was almost three times the legal alcohol limit.

Amy Ross was involved in a collision on February 7 last year at the city’s Raigmore Interchange.

She was working at a care home in Invergordon at the time.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that police carried out drink driving procedure on her and found she had too much alcohol.

She also pleaded guilty to only being a provisional licence holder and had no L plates or qualified driver.

Defence solicitor Clare Russell said her 20 year old client was worried about her mother’s welfare after a phone call from her brother.

“She couldn’t contact her partner and made the bad decision to drive.” Ms Russell added.

Ross was fined a total of £780 and banned from driving for 18 months.
