A man has appeared in court after brandishing a pick-axe as he walked along an Elgin street.
David Stuart was seen waving the tool over his head on Robertson Drive at about 5.20pm on September 6.
A neighbour saw the 37-year-old shouting and swearing in his garden, and hitting his fence and bin with the pick-axe.
Procurator fiscal Alex Swain told Elgin Sheriff Court that when police officers at his house, Stuart placed the pick-axe on the bins outside and was taken into custody.
Defence solicitor Stephen Carty said that his client had no recollection of the incident as he had drunk an “excessive amount of alcohol” and regretted his actions.
He said: “My client knows that this incident is ultimately his fault and the alcohol he had consumed badly affected his mental health.
“His time in custody for this incident was good for him as he had ignored his mental health problems for too long and wants to continue to meet with GPs to help him out.”
Stuart, of Robertson Drive, Elgin, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner. Sentence was deferred for six months to allow him to be of good behaviour.
