A sheriff warned a 49-year-old Inverness man he faced a jail sentence for abusing his partner.
At Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday, Graham Macdonald of Greenwood Place, Milton of Leys, appeared from custody and admitted threatening and abusive behaviour.
The incident happened in the home he shares with Deborah Murchison on Monday.
Defence agent Willie Young told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood that his client was subject to a community payback order and a background report would be required.
Sentence was deferred until November 19 and Mr Young asked the Sheriff to release Macdonald on bail.
But Sheriff Fleetwood refused after reading Macdonald’s previous conviction record.
He told Macdonald: “This is becoming far too much of a habit. I can see little alternative to a custodial sentence.”
