A 54-year-old Inverness man who made life intolerable for his neighbours by his drunken behaviour was ordered to carry out 54 hours of unpaid work.
Sentence had been deferred on Joseph Shields, of Millburn Road, for a background report.
Inverness Sheriff Court had earlier been told that since Shields had moved from his Carnarc Crescent home to a “dry” house elsewhere in the city, there had been no more problems with him.
Shields admitted threatening and abusive behaviour in Carncarc Crescent on January 22.
Fiscal depute Laura Ryan told the court: “Neighbours have been living in fear all the time because of this type of behaviour.”
