A north-east man has been fined after challenging passers-by to fights in the street.
Jonathan Tait was caught shouting and swearing at people as they made their way on Broad Street, Fraserburgh on October 15.
The 31-year-old appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm.
Fiscal depute Callum Thomson said police found Tait shouting at members of the public and challenging them to a fight.
Defence agent Stuart Flowerdew said Tait, of Manse Street, Fraserburgh, had been out enjoying birthday celebrations when it happened.
He said his client had “very little” recollection of the offence after losing the group he was with.
Mr Flowerdew said: “He remembers very little of it.
“He was out for a friend’s birthday and someone produced a bottle of absinthe. He lost contact with his friends and didn’t know where he was.”
Sheriff Christine McCrossan fined Tait £150.
