A man has been ordered to pay compensation to a policeman after leaving the assaulted officer with broken bones.
Stephen Murchison attacked PC Jonathon Pinder on Cross Street in Fraserburgh on January 8 by placing him in a headlock and causing him to fall.
The 31-year-old also behaved in threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and challenging police officers to fight and repeatedly kicking a door.
He appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday and pled guilty to both offences.
Fiscal depute Ruairdh McAlister told the court the officer involved had suffered broken bones and ligament damage and said he had been restricted to “light duties” as a result.
Sheriff Christine McCrossan ordered Murchison, of Portree on the Isle of Skye, to pay £750 in compensation and a £300 fine.
