A 76-year-old woman had her handbag snatched in an Inverness store shortly before another woman suffered the same fate elsewhere in the city.
At Inverness Sheriff Court, 20-year-old Jade Vint, of High Street, Inverness, admitted the two thefts.
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood described the offences, which occurred on February 15 last year, as “nasty” and warned Vint that “custody has to be at the forefront of the court’s mind”.
Vint also admitted stealing a quantity of alcohol from the Iceland shop in Rose Street on April 19 last year.
As she was on a community payback order, the Sheriff was compelled to order a background report and sentence was deferred until March 14.
