A north-east farmer who terrorised his wife in a drunken rage has been fined.
Stuart Miles, whose address was given as Udny, admitted threatening and abusing his wife Lori on Saturday night after drinking heavily.
The court heard the 29-year-old had began insulting his wife, including calling her “pathetic”.
Mrs Miles then went to bed to get away from her husband who later went through to the bedroom and demanded sex.
He then warned her a man standing outside would come in and have sex with her.
She then ran terrified into her daughter’s bedroom and lay on the floor to block the door.
Miles began kicking at the door and trying to get into the room.
His wife called her friend who heard the commotion in the background and called the police.
Defence agent Liam McAllister said it had been an “utterly shameful” few hours in Miles’ life.
He said that Miles had behaved in an “abhorrent” way after he had tried to let off some steam following a 95-hour working week on the farm.
Mr McAllister said the incident was over and done with within a couple of hours and by the time the police had arrived the family were in bed.
He told the court that Miles had a previous conviction related to alcohol abuse and had now sought help after having his “fingers burned twice”.
Sheriff Ian Wallace said Miles had behaved in a “very unpleasant” way towards his wife.
He said he took into account the stress he had been under and fined him £500.
