A 17-year-old appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday charged with robbing a 70-year-old woman of her handbag and its contents.
The teenager, who cannot be named because he is under the age of 18, pleaded not guilty to a charge of robbery in the Market Brae Steps area of Inverness around 1.30pm on Sunday.
Defence solicitor Willie Young said his client, who is from Inverness, was applying for bail. This was not opposed by fiscal depute Martina Eastwood and Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood released him until an intermediate diet on May 7.
Trial was fixed for May 29.
Police Scotland issued a statement to confirm that the bag and all of its contents were recovered and the woman was uninjured.
