A man who stole more than £200 worth of perfume has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Lee Duncan stole three bottles of perfume worth £240 from Boots in the Bon Accord Centre, Aberdeen, on March 31.
The 44-year-old, of Bloomfield Road Aberdeen, was on bail at the time.
He admitted the offences, and appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday for sentencing.
Defence agent John Hardie said: “Duncan has had a long-standing problem with drugs and unfortunately had fallen off the wagon when he stole the perfume.
“He has had plenty of time to think how foolish the action was, and has taken advantage of opportunities given since the incident.”
Sheriff Andrew Millar decided not to send Duncan to jail, and urged him to “keep out of trouble.”
He said: “Looking at all the circumstances, I think you will benefit more by engaging with a community payback order rather than imprisonment.
“But if you fail to comply – prison will be the only option.”
