A 37-year-old former Inverness man who had sex with a girl under 16 was jailed for eight months at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Gordon Lapsley, now of Denny, Falkirk, was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years by Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood.
Sentence had been deferred last month for a background report after Lapsley, previously of the city’s Carnarc Crescent, admitted the offence which occurred in a house in Inverness-shire on February 14/15, 2017.
Defence solicitor Neil Wilson said: “He has a lot of previous convictions but nothing similar to this. He remembers what happened and accepts full responsibility.
“He is thoroughly ashamed and embarrassed by his behaviour.”
