Inverness teenagers appear in court to face drug charges

Two teenagers appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday on six charges each of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Darren Douglas, aged 19, and Marc Forsyth, also aged 19, of Inverness, made no plea and were committed for further examination. Both were released on bail.

The court appearances followed a statement by Police Scotland on Wednesday, confirming that quantities of cocaine, MDMA and herbal cannabis allegedly worth a combined £140,000 were recovered after a car was stopped near Inverness.

The vehicle was stopped on the A9 by officers during the evening of Tuesday, April 30.

Detective Inspector Peter Mackenzie said: “We are committed to tackling the supply of controlled drugs and pro-actively targeting those individuals intent on causing damage to our local communities.

“Tackling the misuse of drugs in the Highlands cannot happen without the invaluable support we receive from the public who do not tolerate drugs or the harm they cause.
