A man has been banned from the road after causing a crash that left two other motorists seriously injured.
James George, 66, was driving on the A95 Keith to Banff Road when he made a right hand turn manoeuvre heading across the opposite carriageway.
However, he did not look to see that it was safe and headed straight into the path of an oncoming vehicle, causing a collision and both cars to be extensively damaged.
The two male occupants of the other vehicle were both seriously injured in the crash.
George was found guilty of driving dangerously and causing serious injury following a trial at Elgin Sheriff Court.
Defence solicitor Stephen Carty insisted that his client had no intention of causing any injury to anyone in what was a “very unfortunate situation.”
He said: “This is a serious charge but the period of disqualification should be limited in light of personal circumstances.
“The furthest his wife can walk is about 20 yards and they need to attend doctors appointments on a weekly basis so the impact of a disqualification on their life would be significant.”
Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov disqualified George, of Parks in Rothiemay, for 12 months and fined him £1,000.
