A former special police constable was warned he could go to jail after admitting embezzling over £2,400 from an Inverness-based bakery.
Sentence was deferred on 33-year-old Michael McDiarmid after he pleaded guilty at Inverness Sheriff Court to embezzling £2,403.17 from Harry Gow, Beauly, and elsewhere whilst he was an employee of the business.
The offence dates back to July 2016.
No details were given to Sheriff Gary Aitken, who deferred sentence on the first offender until June 11 for a background report.
But the sheriff told McDiarmid, of Keppoch Road, Inverness: “This is a significant sum of money and a grave breach of trust so a custodial sentence must be a consideration.”
A second charge of resetting two police radios was dropped by fiscal depute Niall Macdonald.
