Two men will appear in court tomorrow after £22,000 of heroin was found in a car bound for the north-east.
Armed police pulled over the vehicle on the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road, near Drumlithie, late on Tuesday.
Police dogs also attended.
The Class A drugs and more than £100 cash were found.
Two men, aged 24 and 26, from London, are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court tomorrow in connection with the find.
Police Scotland recently changed the type of incidents armed police respond to, after deciding their fast response and advanced medical skills could help improve safety of local communities.
Chief Inspector Donna Allan, north area commander for armed policing, said: “Due to concerns about the manner of driving of a vehicle on the A90, it was necessary for ARV officers to stop the driver and carry out further inquiries.
“Subsequently two men were arrested in connection with alleged drug supply and the inquiry passed to local officers.”
Detective Constable Debbie Mitchell described the find as “significant”.
