A sales director who drove at almost twice the 30mph speed limit in Newtonmore was fined £400 and banned from driving for four months.
Greg Cowie, 38, of Morningside Avenue, Peterhead, admitted driving at 58mph on the A86 as he arrived in Newtonmore on April 22 this year with his wife and two children in the vehicle.
Although Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood was told at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday that some of Cowie’s work colleagues may be made redundant if he was unable to travel round the country to provide training, he still disqualified him.
He told Cowie: “If your driving licence is so important to you, you shouldn’t drive at nearly twice the speed limit,”
