A teenager who had sex with two underage girls in Aberdeen was yesterday sentenced to three years in detention.
Ryan Smith stood in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow where he was told the seriousness of his crimes had been exacerbated by “a significant element of grooming”.
The 19-year-old had been convicted at the High Court in Aberdeen of 12 charges including having sex with two teenage girls as well as sexual assault and sending lewd photographs.
The offences were committed in the city between 2016 and 2018.
Lord Arthurson told Smith that a pre-sentencing report on him made “depressing reading”.
The judge said: “There was a significant element of grooming in at least some of the offending.
“You lack any real insight of the harm you have caused.”
Smith will also be monitored for a further three years following his release.
