A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court on a murder charge.
Liam Hay appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday accused of the murder of Anthony McGladrigan near Cuminestown on Wednesday, June 26.
Hay, from Aberdeenshire, has also been accused of carrying an offensive weapon and acting in a threatening or abusive manner.
He made no plea during the private hearing yesterday, which was his second appearance in court.
He was fully committed and remanded in custody.
Mr McGladrigan died at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after police were called to a property in Greeness, two miles south of Cuminestown.
The 51-year-old was a full-time quality service leader at the restaurant in the Sandman Signature Hotel in Aberdeen, where he had worked since it opened last year.
Speaking after his death, his family described Mr McGladrigan as “a loved, brave and an amazing son, husband, father, brother and exceptional friend.”
