An Aviemore chef who drove his Subaru Impreza at 104mph on a straight stretch of road was fined £500 and banned from driving for four months.
Joseph Kirk, 28, who was also works as an outdoor instructor, admitted driving carelessly at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Kirk, of Dalnabay, was caught in a speed trap in a 60mph zone of the A95 between Aviemore and Grantown on July 21 last year.
His solicitor, James McNairn, said the car had now been sold and appealed to Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood not to disqualify his client as he needed to drive to get to work.
But the sheriff rejected the plea, saying: “Given that his licence was so important to him, he shouldn’t have driven like a madman.”
