A Moray man has admitted carrying out a “sneak-in theft” at a neighbour’s home at the weekend.
Leam Cameron, from Dufftown, stole jewellery and a laptop after gaining access to a property in the town’s Braehead Terrace.
Yesterday the 36-year-old admitted a charge of theft when he appeared from custody at Elgin Sheriff Court.
Police were alerted following the incident, which took place shortly before 4am on Sunday. The stolen items were later recovered.
Yesterday officers described the incident as a “sneak-in theft”.
Constable Lisa Warren said: “It is incredibly distressing to have your personal property stolen and all crimes of this type reported to us will be thoroughly investigated.
“I would like to thank members of the public and the community for their support and patience while inquiries were carried out.
“I would also remind residents to ensure that they remain vigilant and keep all windows and doors locked.”
Cameron, of Braehead Terrace in Dufftown, will be sentenced at a later date.
